What dE3 (dO) means
This message belongs to the LG Mini Washer, the drawer-type washer built under a main washer. The display shows dE3 or dO when the door inside the drawer, the inner cover over the tub, is not closed. It most often appears if that cover was left slightly open when the cycle started. On the main front-load washer and on the SideKick pedestal washer, dE3 means something else, so this reading applies to the Mini Washer only.
Common causes of dE3 (dO)
- Inner cover left open or not latched when the cycle started
- Clothing or a small item holding the inner cover up
- Inner cover closed-position sensing that does not register
- Drawer that cannot be opened to reach the cover
1. If the drawer opens normally, pull it out and look at the door inside it. 2. Press that inner door down until it sits flat and latched, with no clothing caught under the edge. 3. Push the drawer all the way in and press Start. 4. If the drawer will not open at all, do not pull on it hard. Leave it alone and contact us.
- If the inner cover looks latched and dE3 or dO still shows, the problem is in how the washer senses that cover, which we test directly.
- A drawer that will not open needs a careful look at the lock and release, which is not an owner job.
- We give you a written price before any work and back the repair with a 30-day workmanship warranty.

What is the difference between dE3 and dO on this washer?
On the LG Mini Washer both point to the same condition, the inner door inside the drawer not being closed. Your display may show either one. It does not describe a different problem.
Why would the main LG washer show dE3 with a different meaning?
The main front-load washer and the SideKick pedestal use their own message lists, and dE3 is not defined the same way there. This page is for the drawer-type Mini Washer only.
The drawer will not open, so I cannot reach the inner door. What should I do?
Do not force it. A drawer that stays shut while the inner door is open needs the lock and release checked by us, so stop the cycle and book a visit.
Still unsure about dE3 (dO)?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
