What gAS means

This code applies only to LG gas dryers. gAS means the dryer is not receiving gas, so the burner cannot light and the clothes do not get hot. The drum may turn while the dryer waits for fuel. The cause is often outside the dryer, such as a closed valve or a bent supply line, but it can also be inside the gas-control circuit. Electric dryers never show this code.

Common causes of gAS

A gas supply valve that is closed or partly closed
A kinked or crushed gas line behind the dryer
An interruption in the home gas supply
The gas valve or its control circuit in the dryer

✓ One safe check you can try

1. If you smell gas at any point, leave the house at once and call the gas utility from outside. Do not touch switches. 2. With no gas smell, check that the shutoff valve behind the dryer is open, with the handle in line with the pipe. 3. Make sure the flexible gas line is not kinked, then restart the dryer once.

! Why to stop there

If the valve is open and the line is straight but gAS stays, the problem is inside the dryer or in the home supply, and gas work is not something to attempt yourself.
We test the gas valve and the ignition path before anything is replaced.

What should I do first if my gas dryer shows gAS?

Confirm there is no gas odor. If there is, leave the house and call the gas utility from outside. If there is none, check the shutoff valve is open.

Can I fix the gas line myself?

Moving or re-tightening gas connections should be done by a qualified person. You can look for a closed valve or a kinked line, but leave any gas fitting work to us.

Could the issue be my home gas supply?

Yes. If other gas appliances are also not working, call your gas utility. If only the dryer is affected, the problem is likely at the dryer.
