What dE2, E30 means
On LG front-load washers with an alphanumeric display, including the washer half of a WashTower and WashCombo, dE2 and E30 mean the door is closed but not locked. The washer wants the door latched before it starts or tumbles, and the cause can be an overloaded drum, an item between the door and the gasket, or a bent or broken door latch. The cycle stops until the lock engages.
Common causes of dE2, E30
- An overloaded drum pushing the door open slightly
- An item caught between the door and the gasket
- A bent or broken door latch
- The door lock mechanism and its wiring
1. Check the door area and remove anything caught between the door and the gasket. 2. Take some laundry out if the drum is packed full. 3. Re-open and close the door, then reset by turning the breaker off, holding START/PAUSE for 5 seconds, and restoring power. 4. If dE2 or E30 returns, call us.
- If the door is clear and the load is light, the latch itself is the next thing we test.
- A latch that is bent can hold the door but fail to lock, and we examine it for wear or damage.
- We state the price in writing before work, and our repair carries a 30-day workmanship warranty.

What do dE2 and E30 mean on an LG washer?
The door is closed but not locked. The cause can be an overloaded drum, something between the door and gasket, or a bent or broken latch.
How is dE2 different from dE or dE1?
dE and dE1 mean the door is not closed properly. dE2 means it is closed but the lock did not engage, so the latch and what blocks it are the main suspects.
Can I reset the washer for dE2 myself?
Check the door area, re-open and close the door, and reset with the breaker off and START/PAUSE held 5 seconds. If it returns, the latch needs checking.
