What UE means
UE means the load is unbalanced. It appears on LG front-load washers with an alphanumeric display, including the WashTower and WashCombo, and on LG top-load washers with an alphanumeric display. The laundry is bunched on one side, the load is too large or too small, or the washer is not level. The owner sees UE and the washer pauses its spin. Some LG articles write UE/UB.
Common causes of UE
- Laundry bunched on one side
- Load too large or too small
- Washer not level
1. Open the washer and redistribute the load. 2. Fill the drum about 2/3 full. 3. Level the washer. 4. On the Blanket/Duvet cycle, wash one blanket at a time. 5. Restart the spin. 6. Check that none of the laundry is wrapped around the center post or drum.
- If the load is balanced and level and UE still appears, we cannot tell whether the sensing is at issue.
- We check the level, feet and vibration sensing, then run a spin test.
Other Washer codes
Why does UE stop my spin?
An uneven load can shake the washer. The control stops the spin, so you can redistribute the laundry. Washers shake hard when the load sits on one side, so the control protects the machine by stopping.
Does a heavy blanket cause UE?
Yes. Wash blankets one at a time on the Blanket/Duvet cycle, and avoid mixing them with other items. Blankets are heavy and soak up water, so a single blanket per cycle spins more evenly.
Is UB the same?
Some LG articles write UE/UB for the same unbalance condition. If it keeps returning with a good load, we check the washer. Level the feet until the machine does not rock, and then rerun the spin.
Still unsure about UE?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
